Design of a Beam Widening DOE

In order to achieve a homogeneous illumination over a wide area a top-hat shaped beam is often used. When this form shall be generated from a narrow input beam a diffractive optical element (DOEs) can be utilized for this purpose. In this demonstration we show a DOE which can shape incoming light from a standard gaussian shape into a top-hat shape.
