We present a physical-optics-based approach to deal with the modeling of the whole metasurfaces, with a locally extended rigorous analysis of several unit cells so to include possible coupling effects, while the computational efficiency remains high.
A k-Domain Method for Fast Propagation of Electromagnetic Field through Graded-Index Media
In this work we discuss a rigorous k-domain (spatial frequency domain) method for fast calculation of electromagnetic fields propagating through GRIN media. Several advantages are shown by comparing with the widely applied split-step method by numerical examples.

Diffractive and Metasurfaces: from Function to Structure Simulation Seamlessly in VirtualLab Fusion
We show how to include the diffractive or metasurfaces in an optical system and how you can perform a full physical optics simulation which accounts for all the electromagnetic effects occurring in the system.
