Best of Use Cases

No. 3 – Cross-Platform Optical Modeling and Design

To spread some holiday spirit this year, we have decided to send four special newsletters showcasing our "Top Use Cases 2019".
What makes it so special: there is also something to win.

Modeling and design of complex optical systems often requires the use of multiple software packages together. We demonstrate how to use Python to access the field solvers in VirtualLab Fusion and how to import optical systems with full 3D position and material (glass) information from Zemax OpticStudio®.

In our third "Best of" Newsletter we focus on Cross-Platform Optical Modeling and Design.

Cross-Platform Optical Modeling and Design with VirtualLab Fusion and Python

We demonstrate how to use Python to access the field solvers in VirtualLab Fusion, and use the latter alongside Python functions for further analysis.

Import Optical Systems from Zemax OpticStudio®

VirtualLab Fusion allows for the import of optical systems with the full 3D position and material (glass) information from Zemax OpticStudio®, and provides field tracing for further investigation of the imported system.
