Best of Use Cases

No. 2 – Slanted Gratings

To spread some holiday spirit this year, we have decided to send four special newsletters showcasing our "Top Use Cases 2019".

What makes it so special: there is also something to win.

In modern optical systems, gratings can be found in various fields of application, such as wavelength separation, lightguide coupling, and phase and/or polarization manipulation. The modeling and design of gratings therefore generates an ever-growing interest. VirtualLab Fusion with its in-built rigorous Fourier modal method (FMM) makes it very user-friendly.

In our second "Best of" Newsletter we focus on Slanted Gratings.

Analysis of Slanted Gratings for Lightguide Coupling

Different slanted grating geometries are selected from literature, with varying slant angle, fill factor, and modulation depth, and the diffraction efficiencies are calculated with the Fourier modal method (FMM).

Advanced Configuration of Slanted Gratings

Coated slanted gratings can be configured easily within VirtualLab Fusion. This use case explains the available options for the customization of slanted gratings.

Holiday Raffle

We are giving away four LightTrans cups, four Monopoly games, Jena Edition and as major prize one VirtualLab Fusion Introduction Training in Jena. The competition starts with the receipt of the first newsletter. You can register for the raffle via the link below. The deadline for entries is 31th December 2019 at 23:59. The winners will be sorted on 06.01.2020 and then notified by e-mail.
