Webinar

Diffractive Lenses: Concept, Modeling, Design, and Fabrication Data

13 January 2021 | 10:00 – 11:00 & 18:00 – 19:00 (CET)

In this webinar we introduce the concept of diffractive lens and generalize it to the usage of digital holographic surfaces. We briefly compare it with the metalens and Fresnel-type lens approaches. Then we turn to the use of diffractive lenses in design by presenting design workflows in VirtualLab Fusion. This includes the combined design of diffractive lenses and freeform surfaces. In another workflow we combine design in Zemax® OpticStudio® with modeling in VirtualLab Fusion.

User Meetup

Gratings – Modeling, Design & Applications

21 January | 09:00 – 20:00 (CET)

Take part in our new event format: LightTrans User Meetups! A new way of interacting virtually with our optical engineers and sales representatives. The events will take place regularly, each time centered around a different topic.

To inaugurate this new format we have chosen the topic of gratings. Whether surface, volume or metagratings, they can all be simulated in VirtualLab Fusion, and not just as standalone components, but as fully fledged elements in larger, more complex optical systems.

Webinar in Cooperation with PhotonicNet

Flat Optics – about Freeform, Fresnel, Diffractive and Meta Lenses

28 January | 10:00 – 11:30 (CET)

The journey starts with discussing the most fundamental goal in optical design, that is, controlling and manipulating the wavefront of the light which enters an optical system. While in imaging optics spherical wavefronts are desired and aberrations should be minimized, in light shaping tailored aberrations should be introduced. In the next stop on the journey we discuss ways to realize required wavefront phase manipulations by optical surfaces. We start with the design of freeform surfaces. Then, we turn to flat optics in the form of diffractive, Fresnel-type and meta surfaces. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A.

Online Training

Grating Modeling and Design

01 – 04 February 2021 | 17:30 – 20:30 (CET)
08 – 11 February 2021 | 08:30 – 11:30 (CET)

In our Online Training you will learn how to construct the grating geometry and materials. Furthermore, we will present the basic theory of the modeling technologies and their differences and we will show you the how to use the software tools for grating analysis and design. We will practice hands-on with selected rigorous modeling examples, including blazed grating, rectangular grating, slanted grating, holographic volume grating, and metagrating.
