SPIE Optics and Photonics

During the conference we will give talks on:

Physical-Optics-Based Tolerance Analysis for Fiber Coupling Systems
In this work, we present a physical-optics-based modeling technique for the complete optical system, including large-scale lenses and micro-scaled optical fibers.

Modeling of Diffractive/Meta-Lenses using Fast Physical Optics
We propose methods for the modeling of diffractive and meta-lenses based on the concept of the fast-physical-optics approach.

Polarization Effects Modeling with Field Tracing
We present simulation examples of several polarization phenomena, for example, focusing light into a birefringent crystal, using a polarizer in a non-paraxial situation, or demonstrating vectorial effects in tightly focused light.

During the conference we will give a talk on:

Numerical Analysis of Tightly Focused Spot for Confocal Microscopy Illumination by a Real Lens System

In this work, we perform the physical-optics modeling of the real condenser lens system with inclusion of full vectorial effects. The schematic of the illumination part of the confocal microscope is shown in the figure. The Gaussian wave source is generated in a fiber with a relative low divergence. It is collimated by a collimating lens (Edmund Optics: 49664) and then focused by a high numerical aperture condenser lens (Patent: US04384765; NA=0.95) to illuminate the sample.
