Talk "Concepts for Light Shaping: Freeforms, Diffusers and Diffractive Optical Elements"

Illumination systems should shape the light radiated by a source in a predefined way.
We discuss the formulation of light shaping tasks and the modeling of such systems on the basis of a wave-optical light representation which combines wavefront tracing and energy control. Then we consider how to tackle light shaping tasks with freeform surfaces, diffusers, diffractive optical elements and their combinations.
