The Optical Digital Twin Hub: Your Gateway¶

What is the Optical Digital Twin Hub?¶

The Optical Digital Twin Hub is an online library of optical elements, such as sources, components or detectors, that have been transformed into digital twins.

Each element in the Hub is provided as a parameterized model that can be used directly in simulations with VirtualLab Fusion, each with their own modeling algorithm.

🚀 Getting Started with the Digital Twin Hub¶

Step 1: Accessing the Hub¶

Open VirtualLab Fusion
Navigate to Help → Digital Twin Hub
Alternatively go to the Assistant tab and find the Digital Twin button there
The Hub will open on the right sidebar (if not visible: click the Assistant tab on the right sidebar)

Step 2: Browsing Components¶

The Digital Twin Hub offers two complementary views to suit your workflow:

Card View: Displays each component as a visual card
- Includes additional information per entry such as a short description and keywords
- Ideal for discovering new components and exploring details
Tree View: More compact, hierarchical representation
- Makes it easier to find components quickly
- Perfect for experienced users who know exactly what they're looking for

The Hub also features a search function as well as categories for easier navigation and finding of elements.

Step 3: Adding to Your System¶

Click "View Details" to open the specification sheet and learn more about the component
Click "Add to System" to instantly place the component in your Optical Setup
Alternatively, you can mark components as favorites by clicking the star icon (☆) in the top right corner of any entry
Favorites have their own dedicated tab in the Hub and also appear in a special section within your Optical Setup Document for quick access.
