New and Updated Features in VirtualLab 4.0

The release of VirtualLab(TM) 4.0 toolboxes starts in October 2008 with the Starter Toolbox, the Grating Toolbox and the Diffractive Optics Toolbox. The Laser Beam Shaping Toolbox and the Laser Resonator Toolbox will be released in December 2008.

VirtualLab(TM) 4.0 introduces numerous new technologies in the fields of physical modeling, system representation, and user interfaces. Most of the innovations are well documented on the individual toolbox pages:

New and Updated Features in VirtualLab™ 3.7

VirtualLab™ 3.7 introduces the new toolbox concept of LightTrans: the Starter Toolbox Professional Edition replaces the Analysis Toolbox, the Diffractive Optics Toolbox Basic Edition replaces the Design Toolbox.

New and Updated Features in VirtualLab™ 3.5

The following features have been added or updated in Version 3.5.

  • Automated sampling option for sources, transmission functions and propagation operators allow you to concentrate on optics instead of numerics.
  • New light and data view visualizing all pertinent light field information at a glance, such as color, intensity, amplitude and phase of all three electric field components and polarization.
  • New source concept featuring a choice of multiple wavelengths, polarization and partial coherence for modeling thermal sources, LEDs, multimode and excimer  lasers.
  • New design of the main window and more intuitive structure of the menus.
  • Steadily increasing number of modules that are part of VirtualLab™. Several  modules for polychromatic source modeling and detectors are already available.
