Tables

  • In most tables you can right click with the mouse to open a context menu which allows you to copy the currently selected table cells to the clipboard. The shortcut Strg + C also works.
  • Tables with large parameter lists like the aspherical or the polynomial interface also support pasting from the clipboard. The shortcuts Strg + V or Shift + Ins also work.
  • In some tables you can adjust the width of the columns by clicking between column headers. The cursor then changes () and you can set the new column width by dragging the mouse. If you double click with the left mouse button the best column is automatically set.
  • In the result table of the Parameter Run: If more than one parameter was varied, the parameter values are shown in tooltips of the column headers.

General User Interface

  • A window can be closed by double clicking with the left mouse button in its upper left corner (). This is a standard Windows™ behavior.
  • For a better overview you can rename documents in the property browser.
  • For a better overview you can clear all messages in the message panel by clicking with the right mouse button and selecting “clear”.
  • You can toggle your property browser on and off by using F4.

Miscellaneous

  • If a catalog (e.g. for materials) has changed during using VirtualLab™ and these changes are not yet visible, you can use the "Reload from Hard Disk" tool. It can be found if you click on the button "Catalog Tools" in the corresponding catalog dialog (accessible via the System > Materials Catalog menu item for example).
  • The Light Path Tools "Insert Element" and "Exclude Element" use the currently selected Light Path Element (marked with a green rectangle) as default. For the Light Path Tool "Exchange Element" you can select both the element to exclude and the element to insert in the same manner.
  • Zoom into a position in your diagram, light view, or data view by pointing the cursor to this position and change the zoom via the mouse wheel.
  • If the corresponding mouse mode is selected, double clicking with the left mouse button into the view inserts a standard selection and a standard profile line, respectively.
  • For 1D Depth Propagation and Propagation Animation: If you want to see a larger or smaller area in your result, you can change the interpolation parameters. For propagation animation, this can be done by pressing the Edit button in the Propagation Animation dialog, then checking Apply Interpolation and then pressing the Options Button. For 1D depth propagation, this can be done by checking Apply Interpolation in the 1D Depth Propagation dialog and then pressing the Edit button.
  • For Bitmap sequences (e. g. the output of a Propagation Animation): If you want to see the output with correct physical aspect ratio, you can choose the Bitmap Sequence Options by right clicking in the document and then uncheck Stretch Animation.
  • The radius given below the graphical view in the optical system spread sheet is the maximum radius of all spreadsheet radii. If no radius is set within the spread sheet, a radius of 100 mm is given.
