Programmed for progress - high-end micro-optics manufacturer Jenoptik and innovative Optics software company LightTrans conclude cooperation agreement

The micro-optics business unit of Jenoptik's Optical Systems Division and the company LightTrans GmbH will work closely together in the field of development and commercialization of micro-optical solutions.

With this exciting new cooperation Jenoptik will support their customers even better in all fields of application of modern micro-optics. The micro-optical design based on the Unified Optical Modeling approach – which was first introduced by LightTrans – will be combined with the comprehensive and advanced technology portfolio of Jenoptik for micro-and nanostructuring, system integration and testing. Jenoptik's customers will benefit from improved micro-optical solutions and an even wider range of services offered for new and rapidly growing applications of micro-optics.

LightTrans’ VirtualLab™ software will be exposed to many new impulses from customers with challenging requirements. These new requests will enable LigthTrans to enhance their cutting edge software for emerging applications, to extend the modular toolbox concept and to establish VirtualLab™ as the leading micro-optics and optical design software. Jenoptik supports LightTrans in the marketing of the VirtualLab™ software and distributes the software exclusively in the U.S. via the Jenoptik subsidiary MEMS Optical, Inc.. In close cooperation JENOPTIK and LightTrans will continue to meet the demanding expectations of customers worldwide will continue to grow with new optical solutions.

Business Unit Microoptics
Business Unit Microoptics offers a complete portfolio of micro-optical products featuring excellent performance. Based on a broad range of technology skills which are available under Jenoptik’s corporate umbrella, Customers can choose from a variety of options – from the design and rapid flexible prototyping to the manufacture of small and large batches of refractive, diffractive or hybrid micro-optical solutions. With locations in Germany, our subsidiary MEMS Optical, Inc. in the USA and a distributor in Asia we are suitably positioned close to a great number of our Customers. Capabilities to handle materials other than fused silica or plastics enable us to cover a broad range of wavelengths from DUV to IR. They also provide the platform to successfully address a diversity of working tasks using production equipment in semiconductor fabrication or laser material processing, or apparatus technology in life science, defense and civil system applications. Where new and highly efficient solutions are required, OEMs and system integrators can rely on Jenoptik to be your competent point of contact.

Optical Systems division
With its Optical Systems division the Jenoptik Group is one of the few manufacturers in the world to produce precision optics and systems designed to meet the highest quality standards. The division is a development and production partner for optical, micro-optical and optical coating components, opto-mechanical and opto-electronical assemblies, modules and systems - made of glass, crystal as well as polymer. It possesses outstanding expertise in the development and manufacture of micro-optics for beam shaping used in the semiconductor industry and laser material processing. The product portfolio also includes components and systems for life sciences as well as lighting & energy applications, cameras and camera components for the world of professional digital photography, cameras for digital microscopy and macroscopy as well as digital imaging modules for integration within industrial image capture and processing systems.

LightTrans
The Light Trans GmbH, Jena, is internationally recognized as the trendsetter in the field of advanced optical systems modeling.  VirtualLab™ is based on the Unified Modeling Optical concept developed by physicists, mathematicians and computer experts.  The software masters a variety of different methods for modeling from geometrical optics to the rigorous analysis of gratings. The VirtualLab™ toolboxes offer tailored solutions for a variety of tasks in the development of optical systems such as laser optics, and diffractive micro-optics, high-NA systems, ultra-short pulses, polarization optics, metrology, interferometry as well as LED  and excimer modeling.
