From Prototyping to Mass Fabrication

Innovative optical system design frequently contains components which require
novel optics fabrication techniques. LightTrans has arranged a powerful network of experienced fabrication partners to deliver high-end optical components.

This enables LightTrans to deliver optical components and systems which are in accordance with the design and analysis facilities of the VirtualLab Software package. Please contact our sales team to discuss your requirements. You may also borrow some of our sample elements.

Fabrication Steps

Mastering Processes

Different kinds of optical functions desire different kinds of surfaces and materials. Master elements are fabricated in materials like resist, fused silica or metal. Surfaces may be continuous or stepped. We are able to deliver elements having up to 32 height levels through binary lithography fabrication technique. Continuous profiles are realized by grey tone lithography, 2 photon polymerisation, CNC processing, diamond turning or micro machining.

Replication Processes

For series production it is often demanded to transfer the desired structure of the master element to replications. This enables a reduction of the fabrication costs per element. Having in mind the optical function and required number of elements, different replication techniques like UV-molding, photo lithography, electroplating, hot embossing and injection molding are available.

Finishing Processes

Typically, one or more finishing processes are required before high quality optical elements can be delivered. Service at Jena Photonics Fabrication Network is completed by our partners for coating, separation, assembly and testing. 

Managing Processes

LightTrans manages all production steps with all partners being involved. This ensures a cost and time efficient production. Second sources are available within the Network of our partners.
